"New Hope Baptist Church- Imperfect Perfect People Serving a Perfect God"
Dateline: New mission statement for the church (see above)
I thought of a few variations of the theme of our new mission statement ("The Only Perfect Person in this Church is Jesus" was one of them) before the final wording came to me. Feel free to use its theme or exact wording for your own church, denomination, small group, or ministry. Trust me, it is what the lost folks in our world need to hear from us right now.
Here is our prayer list for March 2013:
Praise for God's provision in finding a neon sign with a cross and the words "Jesus Saves." The sign is now installed on our building and shines brightly through the darkness of 5th Ave. in Minneapolis!
Praise for the successful mission trip of our own Charlie Ogdahl! He and Joe Burton will be giving a full report during our Sunday night worship. Church begins at 7:15PM this Sunday March 10. You can count on this- if you need a Spiritual "lift" come and hear these two talk about what God has done.
Pray for me as I continue to preach a message of trust in God. Too often I am hearing my brothers and sisters in Christ getting caught up in discouragement and negativity. I know the world is bringing much tribulation, trial, and trouble. But we are not commanded to fight fire with fire and we are not called to cower in fear. On the contrary the Bible teaches us to turn the other cheek and do all we can to stand! Brothers and sisters stand with me. Remember, our God has given us His Holy Bible in which we have the instructions to be prepared us for such as time as this. Let the Sermon on the Mount be your lesson today and let Ephesians chapter 6 be your dress code. Pray for our worship services. I have made it a priority to do all I can to make our worship services a true sanctuary. While many churches today are trying to draw people in by claiming to be different than other churches. i.e. "A church for people who don't like church." I would rather be a church for people who "don't like the world." Pray that we would be a place where people can find respite from worldliness and bask in the peace that passes all understanding.
Praise to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who has delivered us from the sin and darkness of this world. The next time a news story gets you down, remember that Jesus has given you a new life. He saved you from this mess! This world is not your home. You are more than conquerors! Amen! Amen! Amen!
This is the day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it!
