God is good, all the time.
Between God and us, there is no difference more striking than His goodness. He is always good, we are not. Today we have many people questioning God's motives, power, even His very existence. People ask God to prove Himself, people wonder where God is, people doubt Him; but none of this changes the fact that God is Good, all the time.
Two of the most cited verses in times of trouble and/or confusion are Genesis 50:20 ("But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive") and Romans 8:28 ("And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose"); rightly so, because these verses were written during times of trouble and/or confusion. These verses epitomize the fact that God is good, all the time.
I once heard that every preacher should write the words "so what?" at the top of every sermon. In other words "what is the point?" Let's apply that today… God is good, all the time-"So what?" "What is the point?"
The point is God has never done anything wrong, nor will He ever do anything bad.
In all of history God has never done anything wrong. Everything you read in the Bible, everything you study in a textbook, throughout the existence of our universe, God has never done anything wrong. Today God is not doing anything bad. Everything you see in the news, every situation in your life, in all the things that will affect you today and tomorrow, God will never do anything bad. God does no wrong and God does nothing bad. He is pure, Holy, and uniquely good. Yes, God is good, all the time.
There is no one else except God who will always be good to you. Joseph's own brothers (Genesis 50:20) and Paul's fellow Christians (Romans 8:28) did wrong and bad things but God never let them down. There are billions of people today doing wrong and bad things but God will never let you down.
Yeah sure, we have a lot of people questioning God today. We may be living in a time of trouble and/or confusion but I am taking a stand for God because He is blameless. He has always been good, He is good, and He will always be good.
Heavenly Father, help us see Your goodness today.
