Our "prayer list" for December 2017 is Matthew 6:9-13.
"Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen."
Now, I have taken many a class, sat through many a Bible study, read many a devotional, and heard or preached many a sermon about this passage of Scripture. I know how we can analyze it (e.g. the fact that it should not be called "The Lord's Prayer" but the "The model prayer" because Jesus, being sinless, would not need to pray for forgiveness but we do), scrutinize it (e.g. get caught up in the differences between Matthew 6 and Luke 11, and "debts" or "trespasses"), and aggrandize it (e.g. point out that it contains theology, eschatology, biology, soteriology, and doxology)... but today, let's just pray it and let God work out the details. Let's do our part and let Him do His.
