Dateline: Wake up call!
I came across this illustration by Robert Kirkpatrick in my studies. Feel free to share this humorous yet convicting scenario.
In colonial times in America, an official was appointed in each church, whose duty it was to maintain a keen lookout during the preaching for any member of the congregation who may have fallen asleep. When he discovered such a person, it was his further duty to take in his hand the long stick, one end of which was sharpened to a very fine point. With it he was to walk quietly down the aisle— and prod the preacher!
