Dateline: Minneapolis
I am in a small group that has been studying the book "The Pilgrim's Progress." This week's lecture and discussion was about the delectable mountains story (from the book) and a question about the value of church in your life was asked.
My answer is this- God's church, The Bride of Jesus Christ His Son, has given me everything I have. Baptism, a vocation, an education, a wife (and subsequently a family), friends, travel, encouragement, purpose, meaning, Spiritual growth, discipleship, healing, accountability, status (and I say that with every intent of humility, the status is His not mine), goals, hope, fellowship, community, meaning, and so much more.
All this came from a little church in the inner city and was given to an undeserving, broken soul like me. Church is important and valuable beyond belief for me and you.
Why? Because the Bridegroom loves His bride.
