"Passionately Seeking and Speaking the Love of Jesus Christ"
Dateline: Phillips West
'Tis the season for class reunions. Newspaper notices and social media posts are alight with announcements for these events. There are two reactions to class reunions; people either love them or loathe them. Most people hope that the notice for their reunion come out early enough to provide ample time to get in shape for the meeting. After all, each reunion is one year further away from the glory days of youth. Along with our bodies, our dreams and aspirations have become strangers to our youthful physiques. Some people even begin to work diligently to devise ways to spruce up their life story with embellishment and exaggeration. Perhaps this is to impress others. Perhaps to satisfy personal feelings of underachievement. Perhaps a bit of both.
At the end of the Bible, Jesus announces that He is coming soon. Though class reunions provide enough fellowship and nostalgia to carry one through another calendar year, Jesus announced a reunion that will last for eternity... an eternity in which God's children will live in glorified body and nature before the Glory of the King of Kings. It is a shame that God's people do not long and prepare for this reunion with the same fervor, anticipation, and certainty that millions of people do for class reunions. It is a bigger shame that many of God's people have forgotten about the promise of Jesus' reunion and instead live in fear, inadequacy, and doubt.
All of God's children are called to serve on the reunion committee for Jesus. Get out there and tell the world that He is coming soon.
