I left the house today having no idea what the subject of my prayers would be. I took no more than a few steps before I saw this message scrawled on the sidewalk (see picture below), "Be thankful for today." I thought of Psalm 118:24 (This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it) and decided to heed the advice of the sidewalk message.
I learned very quickly that is is not easy to be thankful for today. My mind kept focusing on things that have already happened and/or God's promises for the future. This will be a day long exercise for me; taking stock and noticing everything God does today and thanking Him for it. I encourage you to do the same.
