Rev. Rock Prayer Project 10/2/13

Today I prayed the length of Park Avenue in Minneapolis. I asked the Lord to help me bathe the street in prayer. I prayed that the many residents of Park Ave. would seek their security under the shadow of God's wing.

As I traveled along Park Ave., I darn near felt like I passed through a valley as the street went from quaint neighborhood blocks to bustling inner city corners to downtown Minneapolis. There is no physical valley but the "economic valley" is obvious. It was just as I came to this revelation that I saw the graffiti pictured here on a street corner.

There is tension on Park Ave. Non-profit outreaches to the poor are across the street from mansions. An abortion clinic is a stone's throw from a Christian resource center for pregnant women. Beautiful condos are right down the street from dilapidated apartments. I remember Park Ave. became famous years back when the city had such an animosity towards a problem property on the 1800 block that people wanted the police to "up the ante" and raze the building (at that time the police were known to drive front end loaders through crack houses during raids). Park Ave. needed prayer then and needs it even more today.
