"An Imperfect People Serving a Perfect God" Dateline: Phillips West "I always thank my God when I mention you in my prayers" Philemon 4. In April 2005 I was living alone, working full time in a video game store, studying for a degree in Business Management, and steadily becoming more active at New Hope Baptist Church. I would prepare messages in my spare time and preach to the few brave (and very forgiving) souls willing to show up at church on Sunday morning. Since that time the Lord has taken me on an incredible journey. I was called and hired by the church, I have preached to thousands of ears, been on three mission trips, studied and taught many classes in theological education, become deeply involved in our community, been a part of 4 church plants, and started a family. Early in this journey I began writing this email as a way to inform my brothers and sisters in Christ of the ministry and to ask for your prayers. From the very beginning I have received responses of encouragement from you. I keep them in a file called "newsletter blessings" and I continuously look through them. They are like precious jewels to me. Bottom line- I know that I can't do this without you. Thank you so much for your prayers throughout this ministry! We are truly in this together. The best part is that each day brings a new opportunity to serve our loving Father who art in Heaven. You are making a Kingdom sized difference in this world. Press on, trust in God, and love Him with all your heart. Thanking God for you today, Jake |
