Dateline: Play Ball!
Dennis was not a big kid but he loved little league baseball. His knowledge of the game made up for his lack of size. One day at the plate, he swung at the pitch with all his might. The ball went off his bat in the general direction of left field, so Dennis began to run as fast as he could. As he rounded 1st base his mind was focused on reaching 2nd base and the batting helmet partially obscured the young boy's eyes. Due to the circumstances, he had failed to see if the ball had gone fair or foul but he kept running. As he approached 2nd base, the 2nd baseman tried to fool him into stopping by yelling that the ball went foul but little Dennis kept running. He rounded 2nd and as he approached 3rd base, he caught a glimpse of the 3rd baseman pretending to catch the ball and when Dennis passed by he felt the 3rd baseman tag him with an empty glove... but Dennis kept running. Only after Dennis slid into home plate and heard the umpire yell, "Safe" did he stop running. Dennis scored a home run, because he kept running.
No matter who tries to tell you to stop, no matter what obstacles come your way, you need to keep on running until the umpire of your soul tells you that you are safe…keep running until Jesus says you are home.
