There once was a retired music teacher living in a boarding house. Every morning a university student would ask the teacher, "What's the good news?" The teacher would hit a tuning fork on the arm of his wheelchair and say, "Hear that?" That's middle C ! It was middle C yesterday, it is today, and it will be 1000 years from now. The tenor upstairs sings flat, the piano across the hall is out of tune, but this will always be middle C."
The old man had discovered one thing on which he could depend. Middle C is one thing that is constant in a changing world. In our world of noise and amid a virtual cacophony of things that are "out of tune"- our middle C is the gospel of Jesus Christ... What's the Good News? The Good news is Jesus Christ- today, tomorrow, and forever!
