Dateline: Under the Son
It has been said that the same sun that softens wax hardens clay.
We live in a world of extremes. As Christians we must hold strong to Word of God, trust His promises, and above all have faith. In 2 Corinthians 5 we learn the Gospel, like the sun, will produce two very different results. In fact they are as different as life is to death (talk about extreme!):
15 For to God we are the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. 16 To some we are an aroma of death leading to death, but to others, an aroma of life leading to life. And who is competent for this? 17 For we are not like the many who market God's message for profit. On the contrary, we speak with sincerity in Christ, as from God and before God.
So what is our role in this extreme world? How can we make a difference? The answer is found in verse 17- speak with sincerity in Christ. This means we have to live it and give it, walk it and talk it. When we speak with sincerity in Christ, the extremes will matter less and less because our sincerity will always result in knowing God better. We can know for sure that He will handle the extremes... because He can. He made the sun that hardens wax and softens clay; and He sent the Son who can wash all our sins away. Thanks be to God that life and death are in His hands and nothing is too extreme for Him to handle.
Sincerely in Christ,
