"There are many people in the Bible who disagreed with God but still obeyed Him" (this is an old quote and I am unsure who said it). But I would like to embellish and paraphrase that old quote by saying, "In the Old Testament there are many examples of people who disagreed with God but still obeyed Him (e.g. Moses and Gideon); in the New Testament there are many examples of people who agreed with God but disobeyed Him (e.g. the foolish Galatians and lukewarm Laodicea). Today, there are far too many people claiming to be Christians who disagree with God (toss aside anything they do not like about the Bible) AND disobey Him (basically do whatever they want)."
A lot of soul-wrenching conviction comes by way of considering where one stands on such an issue. Do I agree with the Bible in my thoughts but not by my actions? Do I disagree with what God asks me to do but still do it because I trust Him? Do I think that parts of the Bible are wrong, outdated, and/or not applicable to my life? Or, am I going to agree with God AND obey Him?
