News Hope Weekly 8/10/16

On a recent evening I found myself hurriedly rushing to attend a community meeting. As I went through the door of the building, I was stopped by a man (he is a high ranking officer in the Minneapolis Police Department) whom I greeted with the customary, "How are you?" While this may seem like and ordinary, and appropriate exchange, the man's response was anything but.

He did not pass along the reciprocal, "I'm fine, how are you." This man (who is a loyal disciple of Jesus Christ in addition to a peace officer) took my hand, looked me right in the eye and said, "Really, how are you doing Jake?"  I don't know how to express his true concern in words. All I can say is that I knew right then and there that this brother-in-Christ was truly concerned for me and really cared how I was doing.

May each of us do the same to someone else today- that is, show them true concern. Honest, sincere care instead of rudimentary small talk.. I think this is what Jesus would do, may we do the same.
