Rev. Rock Prayer Project 9/23/13

Today I prayed with Dorthea Robinson. She was holding a sign that read, "Homeless, Native, Anything will help." I approached her, introduced myself, gave her a prepackaged meal, and bottled water. I explained that I was called to minister to the people holding signs on street corners. I want to know their stories so I can pass them along to all of you prayer warriors. I want them to know that they are not forgotten and that people will be lifting them up in prayer.

Dorthea has been homeless for 10 years. She is actually moving into an apartment on October 1st and seemed very grateful to be getting off the streets. She had a child but that child passed away. She was probably the youngest person I have yet to encounter on the streets, making her 10 years of homelessness seem all the more relevant to her young life. She has very long hair that was tousled by the strong wind we had today. It did not surprise me that she requested I didn't post a photograph as I am sure she would have liked to have been able to brush her hair before any photo was taken (this photo shows the amount of traffic that was simply driving past her as she stood on the corner). I prayed with her for protection until she is able to move into her new place.
